In 1885 in the
Blackforest town of Schonach, August Schwer, the host of the famous
Hotel Schlossberg , built his first cuckoo clock. This was the
beginning of what was destined to be one of the premier manufacturers
of cuckoo clocks in the Black Forest of Germany. For over 4 generations
the Schwer family owned and operated August Schwer Black Forest Cuckoo
Clocks- producing more clocks than any other Black Forest clock
manufacturer. In the year 2000, the company was acquired by Andy Winter
who had spend more than 15 years in various management positions within
the company. August Schwer clocks have won numerous awards for their
design and superior craftmanship.

The Rombach and Haas Black Forest Clock Factory
was founded in 1894. For the location they chose an old farmhouse in
the middle of the town of Schonach. Schonach later became a center for
Cuckoo Clock production in the Black Forest and has remained so to the
present.

In the early years, manufacturing Cuckoo Clocks did not
generate enough income to live so the early clock makers had to to rely
on the sale of groceries to make ends meet. The clock making business
slowly grew into a viable business as they produced more and more of
these special clocks. In the beginning of the 20th century the company
produced only wall clocks.
Over the years the company has earned an excellent reputation for the
high quality of their Black Forest Clocks. The clocks produced by our
company are unique and extraordinary in design and quality. For this we
receive recognition every year.
